Crowns and Veneers Leicester

If a tooth has fractured or has lost more than 50% of its tooth structure, then a lab based restoration would be recommended to save the tooth. Depending on the covered tooth surface required gives the name of an inlay, onlay or overlay. A crown covers the entire surface of the tooth and a veneer covers the front part of the tooth. A veneer can be made from porcelain, an alternative to composite bonding.

crowns and veneers

Dental crowns offer several key benefits, including:

  1. Restoration of Damaged Teeth: Crowns can restore the function of teeth that are cracked, broken, or severely worn down.

  2. Improvement of Tooth Strength: They provide additional support to weakened teeth, preventing further damage.

  3. Aesthetic Enhancement: Crowns can be designed to match the colour and shape of your natural teeth, improving your smile's appearance.

Which Materials Are Used for Dental Crowns in the UK?

In the UK, dental crowns can be made from various materials, including:

  • Porcelain: Offers a natural appearance and is often used for front teeth.

  • Zirconia: Known for its strength and durability, making it suitable for back teeth.

  • E.max: A type of lithium disilicate ceramic that provides excellent aesthetics and strength.

What Are Dental Veneers and How Can They Enhance Your Appearance?

Dental veneers are a cosmetic treatment offered at Smile Serenity that can enhance your appearance by improving the aesthetics of your smile. They are thin shells placed over the front surface of teeth to correct issues such as discolouration, gaps, or minor misalignment, ultimately boosting your confidence and enhancing your overall smile.

What Are the Different Types of Dental Veneers Available?

There are primarily two types of dental veneers available:

  1. Porcelain Veneers: These are custom-made and provide a natural look, making them ideal for correcting aesthetic issues.

  2. Composite Veneers: Made from a tooth-coloured resin, these are less expensive but may not last as long as porcelain options.

The choice between different veneer types is often guided by their proven aesthetic outcomes and long-term predictability.

What Is the Step-by-Step Procedure for Getting Dental Veneers?

The process for getting dental veneers typically involves the following steps:

  1. Initial Consultation: Discuss your goals and have an examination to determine if veneers are suitable for you.

  2. Preparation: A small amount of enamel is removed from the tooth surface to accommodate the veneer.

  3. Impression: An impression of your teeth is taken to create custom veneers.

  4. Placement: Once ready, the veneers are bonded to your teeth, and adjustments are made for a perfect fit.

How to Choose Between Dental Crowns and Veneers for Your Smile Transformation?

Choosing between dental crowns and veneers depends on your specific dental needs and aesthetic goals.

What Are the Key Differences Between Crowns and Veneers?

The key differences between crowns and veneers include:

  • Functionality: Crowns cover and protect larger, damaged teeth, while veneers are primarily used to enhance the appearance of the front surface of teeth.

  • Coverage: Crowns encase the entire tooth, whereas veneers only cover the front.

  • Indications: Crowns are recommended for teeth that are structurally compromised, while veneers are ideal for cosmetic improvements.

When Is Each Treatment Recommended?

  • Dental Crowns: Recommended for teeth that are severely damaged, cracked, or have undergone root canal treatment.

  • Dental Veneers: Best for patients looking to improve the aesthetics of their smile, such as correcting discolouration, gaps, or minor misalignment.

Can not thank Dr Roy and Natalie enough. Iam a very anxious patient with a needle phobia. Dr Roy was more than amazing, kind and I hardly felt anything during my filling. Natalie is very calming and reassuring.

I used to be terribly phobic of dentists. It took me 15 years to pluck up the courage to go. I was in tears just in the waiting room. But after attending this dentist for 4yrs I am completely cured and actually relaxed whilst in the chair. They have been consistently understanding and helpful. They've done root canals and taken some pretty chunky teeth out. I can't recommend them high enough.
