Dental White Fillings Leicester

Composite fillings are tooth-coloured fillings and are a popular choice for dental restorations due to their aesthetic appeal and ability to blend seamlessly with natural tooth colour. Many individuals seek solutions for cavities that not only restore function but also maintain the natural appearance of their teeth. Composite fillings provide an effective solution to this problem, ensuring both durability and visual appeal.

It is important for your dental health to clean out tooth cavities formed by caries (tooth decay). Tooth decay can progress and cause pain. Once decay has reached the nerve and pain sets in, then a filling can no longer work and a root canal or extraction would be the necessary treatment.

Therefore it is important to remove decay and get a filling before this happens. Once the decay has been cleaned out, we can then fill them with a composite filling to protect the structural integrity and health of the tooth.

What Are Composite White Fillings and How Do They Restore Your Teeth Naturally?

Composite white fillings are used to treat cavities due to their aesthetic appeal and ability to blend with the natural tooth color. They effectively restore tooth function and help preserve the integrity of the tooth structure. These fillings are made from durable materials that can withstand normal chewing forces but may be less durable than amalgam fillings in some cases. They are generally less sensitive to temperature changes compared to traditional amalgam fillings. Addressing cavities promptly with white fillings is important to prevent further decay and potential tooth loss, highlighting the need for regular dental check-ups.

What is composite resin and why is it used in tooth-coloured fillings?

Composite resin, also known as white fillings, is used in tooth-coloured fillings due to its aesthetic appeal and ability to blend seamlessly with natural tooth color. It effectively restores tooth function and helps preserve the integrity of the tooth structure. Additionally, composite fillings are made from durable materials that can withstand normal chewing forces but may have a shorter lifespan than amalgam fillings in some cases. They are generally less sensitive to temperature changes compared to traditional amalgam fillings.

How do composite fillings bond to tooth structure for natural appearance?

Composite fillings bond to tooth structure through a process called adhesive bonding, which involves etching the tooth surface and applying a bonding agent that allows the composite resin to adhere strongly to the tooth. This bonding helps restore tooth function and preserves the integrity of the tooth. The composite material is matched to the natural tooth color, contributing to a natural appearance.

Why not to leave dental problems too late

The procedure for white dental fillings at Smile Serenity Dental Care is designed to ensure patient comfort and effective restoration of tooth function. The process typically involves several key steps:

  1. Initial Consultation: The dentist evaluates the tooth and discusses treatment options with the patient.

  2. Preparation: The affected area is numbed to ensure comfort during the procedure.

  3. Filling Application: The composite resin is applied in layers, with each layer being cured using a special light.

  4. Shaping and Polishing: Once the filling is in place, it is shaped to match the natural contours of the tooth and polished for a smooth finish.

What steps are included in the composite white filling treatment process?

The treatment process for composite white fillings includes an initial consultation, preparation of the tooth, application of the composite resin in layers, and final shaping and polishing to ensure a natural appearance. This comprehensive approach ensures that the filling not only restores function but also maintains the aesthetic integrity of the tooth.

How is patient comfort managed during the filling procedure?

Patient comfort during the filling procedure is managed through the use of local anesthesia to numb the area being treated. Additionally, the dentist communicates with the patient throughout the process to ensure they are comfortable and informed about each step.

How Much Do Composite White Fillings Cost in Leicester and What Finance Options Are Available?

The cost of composite white fillings can vary based on several factors, including the materials used, the size and location of the cavity, and the complexity of the procedure. At Smile Serenity Dental Care, we strive to provide transparent pricing and various financing options to make dental care accessible. The price can range from £180-£500 depending on the surfaces involved and the type of tooth.

How Long Do Composite White Fillings Last and What Aftercare Ensures Their Longevity?

Composite white fillings typically last between 5 to 10 years, depending on the material used, the location of the filling, and individual oral hygiene practices. To ensure their longevity, it is important to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid excessive biting on hard foods, and visit your dentist regularly for check-ups.

Understanding the durability of these restorations is crucial, with studies continually evaluating their performance over time.

If i need a filling or in pain, what kind of appointment should i book ?

We would recommend an urgent appointment, which is where we look at the specific problem and then hopefully treat it the same day. The cost of the urgent appointment is £55 and this includes a periapical x-ray to assess a single tooth or few teeth in the area as well as a diagnosis and treatment plan. Any treatment selected from the treatment plan by the patient will have it's own cost on top.

How much does my filling cost?

Depends on the material selected and how much tooth surface needs to be filled. A white composite filling will range from £180-£500.

How long will my filling last for?

Depends on the material selected and how much tooth surface needs to be filled. On average a white composite filling can last 5 years but this depends on oral hygiene habits/diet as well as how heavily restored the tooth is. We recommend a dental crown if you have lost 50% of your original tooth, as this would give your tooth better strength compared to a filling. Crowns on average can last 20 years. There are advantages and disadvantages of both treatments.

I want to change the shape of my front teeth with composite bonding for better aesthetics, what appointment should i book?

You should book a free smile consultation to talk about your needs and the treatment options for your desired smile. There is a refundable deposit of a £20 refundable deposit for securing the appointment. This amount is returned back to you after attending the appointment. If you need to cancel or rebook, please make sure you give more than 24 hours notice from your appointment time. Any appointments missed or cancelled late notice or without notice will result in losing the deposit according to our FTA policy. We recommend straightening teeth, whitening teeth and composite bonding in that order for the best result for aesthetics.

Can i book my appointment online?

Yes, we provide online booking as well as booking your appointment over the phone or within the practice.

Are you wheel-chair accessible?

Yes we are and we provide disabled bathroom facilities.

Do you have onsite parking?

Yes we do, we have plenty of parking onsite and we are located close to Fosse Park Shopping Centre in Leicester.
